Ivan Taylor - Owner and founder of CreativeOBD LTD
CreativeOBD Ltd was born when Ivan first entered the automotive market in 2014. After children came along, with limited time and his hands, turning it into an established business became too much of a challenge, so it was put on hold till January 2021. His dream to run his own business never left him, so right in the midst of the global pandemic and house move, Ivan had the perfect opportunity to focus on his future career goals. So when lock-down hit, and he had many empty evenings, confined to the house, from here started the rebirth of CreativeOBD Ltd.
Starting off as a side-line business, in a small bedroom of his house, (alongside working full-time as a design engineer at a pharmaceutical company), it soon turned into a thriving business. He created his first website, applied his IT background and engineering experience of designing circuit boards, crimping and soldering, to build his first set of cables.
In the niche market of automotive cable manufacturing, with his reputation rapidly growing, he could see the vision of this being more than just a hobby. He started advertising on eBay, posting on Facebook, Instagram and offering a wider range of customized cables.
Helen Wild - Head of Administration and Joint Owner of CreativeOBD
In July 2021 Ivan's partner Helen, decided to join the team full time, taking on the role of Head of Administration. Helen took on the rapidly growing eBay store, website orders, packing, shipping and building customer relations. It became impossible to operate the business from such a small room in the house, so Ivan and Helen both decided it was time to go in search for a commercial business premises. They managed to secure a good sized unit on a local Industrial Estate in Winsford in October 2021. Meridian House has given us the much needed space to expand and to drive the business forward.
Dia - Full time Team Leader
Dia was our first member of our team who joined us in February 2022. She has shown outstanding and continual improvement in her abilities from the very start, with a keen eye for detail with every cable she builds. Due to her incredible cabling skills, strong organizational skills with scheduling work orders, time management and her technical knowledge of the industry, this has enabled her to be promoted to team leader, only 1 year into her employment with us.
Premises move
In April 2022, Ivan, Helen and Dia were struggling with the limited space in the new unit. Reputation was building and we had secured more contacts and business orders than expected. We started suppling to some of the largest tuning companies and tool manufacturers across the world. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to move to a much bigger unit only 6 months since our first premises move. Unit 5 was on the same business block as our current one, so thankfully we didn't have far to travel. We were pleased to be given keys for this new unit space straight away offering us a separate office, storage room, kitchen, and a generous sized workshop to build stock and grow our new team.
Nikolas - Full time Cable Technician
In October 2022 we took on another cable technician. Nikolas is an enthusiastic and a dedicated member of our team at CreativeOBD. He brings forward new business ideas and is always striving for positive changes in our procedures and work routines. He is gaining confidence in his job role and is building strong skills and techniques in his cabling work.
Jade - Part time Logistics Co-ordinator
Jade is one of our newest team member who works in the administration department with Helen. She started working for us in February 2023 and is integral to the smooth running of the business. She works very hard in responding to our customers queries, dealing with communications, collecting accurate shipping data, booking collections, sending invoices and ensuring parcels arrive safely to our customers. She works closely with our shipping account managers to ensure we can offer the best shipping rates for our customers. She is passionate about what she does and has a real 'get things done' attitude
Pavla - Full time cable assistant
Shortly after we appointed Jade, we decided that we still needed and extra pair of hands to help support the cable technicians in the workshop. Pavla also joined us in February 2023 and has been trained to assist Dia and Nikolas with preparing cutting, stripping wires, making harnesses, heat shrinking, crimping, and some soldering tasks to speed up the cable building process. She has helped us turn around orders much faster for our customers. She loves working for CreativeOBD and is a valued member of our team.
Louise - Part time administration assistant
Louise started with us at the beginning of March and has taken on a part time position within the administration team. With her positive attitude to learn, people skills, warm personality and her willingness to get stuck into any task, she is a real asset to our business. In her brief time with us she has demonstrated commitment in helping deliver the best service to our customers by assisting with their queries promptly and efficiently. She supports the accuracy and security of every shipment of our customers orders from the moment they leave the workshop to the day they arrive in the hands of our customers. She is always going the extra mile to help the administration department team, sending invoices, assisting with stock control and packaging orders. She brings that calm vibe to our frantic days in the busy shipping department.
Without our amazing team we wouldn't be where we are today, so we are very grateful for all their hard work, skill set and what they contribute to our growing business.
